Biography

Dr. Todd Kingston is a Building a World of Difference Faculty Fellow in Engineering and Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU).  He is also an affiliate of the Center for Multiphase Flow Research and Education (CoMFRE) and the Electric Power Research Center (EPRC) at ISU.  Prior to joining the faculty at ISU in 2020, Dr. Kingston was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Kingston received his Ph.D. in 2019 from Purdue University and M.S. and B.S. from Iowa State University in 2013 and 2011, respectively, all in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermal sciences.  His research interests include multiphase thermal-fluid transport, thermal management, energy transfer and conversion, microfluidics boiling heat transfer, battery science and safety, and thermomechanical-electrochemical coupling phenomena.  His teaching includes undergraduate courses on fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Mahdi Ishtiaque

Mahdi is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University.  Prior to joining ISU, Mahdi received a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2018.  

Shantanu Datar​

Shantanu is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University.  Prior to joining ISU, Shantanu received a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology in 2019.  

Sam De Penning

Sam is a PhD candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Pranav Shrotriya and Prof. Todd Kingston.  Sam received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Dordt University in 2021, prior to joining ISU.  

Sadiqul Islam

Sadiqul is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Pranav Shrotriya. Prior to joining ISU, Sadiqul received a Master of Science from Washington State University in 2022 and a Bachelor of Science from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2017, both in Mechanical Engineering.  

Anthony David

Anthony is an MS student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Pranav Shrotriya and Prof. Todd Kingston. Anthony received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ISU in 2023.

Jayanth Ramamurthy

Jayanth is a PhD Student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University under the co-advisement of Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Cary Pint. Jayanth previously received a Master of Science in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2017 before working in the battery industry for several years.

Mihir Ojha

Mihir is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Cary Pint and Prof. Todd Kingston. Mihir previously received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

Abraham Brink

Abraham is an MS student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Cary Pint. Abraham received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ISU in 2024.

Qusai Alahmad

Qusai is a PhD Student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University. Qusai previously received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at ISU in 2024 under the advisement of Prof. Xinwei Wang.

Shervin Alaei

Shervin is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University under the advisement of Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Cary Pint.  Prior to joining ISU, Shervin received a Master of Science in Nanotechnology from Sapienza Università di Roma and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Sahand University of Technology.

Jakir Hossain

Jakir is an MS student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and is co-advised by Prof. Todd Kingston and Prof. Guowen Song. Jakir is also pursuing a PhD in Textile Science under Prof. Song. Previously, Jakir received a Master of Science in Design and Merchandising from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering from the University of Chittagong.
