Boyd Technical Support Staff & Lab Facilities

Department of Mechanical Engineering has a technical support team eager to help with Iowa State projects involving woodworking to integrated circuits.

Below is a list of our facilities as well as our technical support staff members and their respective skill areas in which they can provide assistance.


Boyd Lab
1260/1360 Hoover

 

 

A combination Teaching Lab and Fee for Service Shop facility that has wood working and metal working equipment.  Boyd Lab supports the design and fabrication of ISU class projects, weekend Resource Hub activity and research projects. Boyd Lab Provides:

  • Access to hand tools and power tools
  • Job Requests for Mill work, Lathe work, CNC milling, Welding, Wood Working etc.
  • Advice on design work, design for manufacturing, CAD questions, CAM questions, manufacturing questions, etc.
  • Advice on purchasing/sourcing questions
  • Advice on where to manufacture parts

Additive Manufacturing Lab

Engineering Measurements and Instrumentation Lab

Mechanical Systems and Controls Lab located in The Mine

Senior Design Lab located in The Mine
